Volunteer Radio and Yee-Haw Brewing Company Present the 2017 Arcade

After raising over $1500 at this past fall’s first-ever Arcade Pentathlon, Yee-Haw Brewing, KS Absher Marketing & Events, and Harrogate’s Lounge are teaming up with WUTK, UT’s award-winning student radio station this year to hold the first-ever Arcade Decathlon to help raise money for self-supporting Volunteer Radio 90.3 The Rock. The decathlon will be a series of ten tournaments involving a different arcade game each month to determine winners for each event. The monthly champions, along with three more randomly drawn participants from the tourney will compete in December for the Decathlon Championship.

The Arcade Decathlon kicks off this Thursday, March 10 with a Skee Ball Tourney, and registration is from 6-7 p.m., and the competition beginning at 7 p.m. The winner of the Skee Ball Tourney will receive a pair of tickets to the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville as the prize. A $10 entry fee is required from each contestant, and all of the proceeds go directly to the WUTK Gift Fund to help keep the radio station and student lab operating. WUTK receives no operational funding, and depends on underwriting, sponsorships, listener donations, and events to generate revenue needed to stay open. Each night will also include a raffle with tickets available for donations, and valuable prizes like concert and athletic event tickets, restaurant and other retail gift cards, Yee-Haw Brewing and Harrogate’s Lounge merchandise, and much more. All participants must be at least 18 years of age with a valid photo ID to compete. The tourneys will take place the third Thursday of each month after the kick-off Skee Ball Tourney, and all rounds will be held at Harrogate’s Lounge 409 Gay Street in downtown Knoxville.

The other monthly events include; Foosball for “Foos20” (April 20), Afterburner & Tomcat (May 18), NBA Jam (June 15), Cruisin’ USA (June 20), Pinball (Aug. 17), Darts (Sept 21), Ghosts & Goblins (Oct. 19), Galaga (Nov. 16), and the Championship Round (Dec. 14).
