Sunday afternoon was sunny with a light breeze and clear skies–the perfect day for a stroll down Central Avenue as part of Open Streets 2016.
Presented by Bike Walk Knoxville and sponsored by the City of Knoxville and several area businesses and organization, the festival shut down Central Avenue from downtown, coming out of the Old City, to past the Freeze-O (an important line of political demaraction; thus ends, for many, Happy Holler).
The day-long festival included food trucks, games, entertainers, and specials at local businesses along the street. Bikers, kids on scooters, skateboards and hover boards, families walking their dogs and carrying babies in slings–Open Streets was for everyone.
Entertainers ranged from folk singer-songwriters to bluegrass groups to hip-hop artists. The line out Freeze-O numbered in the dozens for solid hours.
