When Youth Roars: Kitten @ Mercy Lounge

Want to see someone who really means it? Go see a live performance of Kitten the next chance you get. At just 18 years old, lead singer Chloe Chaidez is a true rock goddess, with the perfect mix of crazy and sex-allure. She was climbing on speakers, sliding down poles and rocking her hair like a windmill. How much acupuncture does one need after that?

Kitten played at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge on November 18th. They opened for Charli XCX and without a doubt stole the show. How could anyone top such an energetic show that resembles a Jillian Michael’s work-out in mini-skirts? The perfect mix of rock, electronica and punk had speakers blasting and ears ringing. You can tell that this girl grew up listening to punk and 80’s new wave music.

The band was formed in Los Angeles back in 2009 and has released three EPs so far: Sunday School (2010), Cut It Out (2011) and most recently Like a Stranger (2013). Kitten is expected to release their debut album next year. One thing is for sure: Chaidez is one wild and unstoppable girl, with a hot passion for music running through her veins. Fueled by her teenage spirit, she’s ready to take on the world. So watch out world!
