Transviolet released their debut self titled EP last fall to a chorus of high praise. This fall, they are poised to take their music to the next level with an LP release. While we wait with baited breath, Transviolet has given us some pieces of what is to come via three singles. Future, LA Love and Night Vision.
On the new LP, the band is cohesive and complete as a unit. The changes are seamless. The unity is clear in the creation of the music. And the lyrics are astute, intelligent and undeniably catchy. Girls Your Age is the epitome of teenage angst combined with the complete freedom of the unknown. The hook sets itself in the first line. The desire to know more, to relate, rushes over us like a flood of memories of Summer and frivolities and tinges of love.
17 runnin’ from innocence, like it’s a lion/Nipping at my heels, but I’m young so I outrun ‘em (Girls Your Age)
Night Vision is the push and pull of love. Of relationships. It’s the “I love you. And you should desire me” It’s the complexities created in and the simplification of letting love happen. The song presents tension and release both sonically and lyrically. It is what a single should be.
When the night gets heavy/Lay your heaven on me/Sparks illuminate us/I’ll find you in the dark (Night Vision)
