The Maker City is making moves to help local makers.
In this time of uncertainty, our Knoxville community is choosing to work together and create an atmosphere of support for small businesses. The Maker City is working with local makers to create two programs to specifically address their needs for resources, education and connection.
- Monday Maker Marketplace – every Monday from 8a – 8p via Instagram (@themakercity)
In an effort to help makers continue making a living doing what they love, Maker City has created the Monday Maker Marketplace.
Each Monday Maker City will post THREE – FIVE items for sale on thier Instagram feed. The community is invited to bid for the item and raise money for each of the makers. This is the ultimate show of love and connection to the small businesses that form the foundation of our community.
Makers can sign up to be featured at themakercity.org/mondaymarketplace.
- Maker Meet-in – every Thursday at 10am via Zoom
These sessions will feature business experts, makers making or guided chats. The meetings will be hosted via zoom and posted later on www.themakercity.org
This Thursday will tackle How to Plan your Day, When Plans Have Changed. As we all practice social distancing, we are experiencing a new normal. This requires a new routine and Samantha Lane, creator of Origami Day, has personal experience in organizing life to maximize space, time and accomplishment. She will speak then open the line for questions.
Meet up on Zoom here: https://zoom.us/j/277587920
Maker City is looking forward to these events over the coming weeks to providing consistency and some revenue for our local makers.
