Zappa Plays Zappa is coming to The Bijou Theatre on Wednesday April 15, 2015 and Marathon Music Works on May 7, 2015. This truly inventive and always entertaining evening will be packed with all of your favorites from the Frank Zappa catalogue. Lead by his oldest son, Dweezil, the performance will be full of stories and interesting tidbits as well as background on the songs from the very intriguing perspective of a son and a father.

Frank Zappa is best known for his inventive guitar shredding which revolutionized the rock scene. Rooted in jazz and experimentation, Zappa quickly ascended to the public spotlight. His 60 albums covered a range from blues to what some called “electrical chamber music.” He toured with “The Mothers of Invention” and “Captain Beefheart” before eventually going solo. Throughout his career he remained constant in one thing, his belief in his approach.

In 2006, Dweezil took the reigns and resurrected the songs and stylings of his late father. The band went on to win an Grammy in 2009 for Best Instrumental Rock Performance for their performance of “Peaches en Regalia.” In 2012 they released a double live album entitled “FOH” (Front of House).

This tour, the players include:
Dweezil Zappa: Guitar
Scheila Gonzalez: Saxophone, Flute, Keyboards & Vocals
Ben Thomas: Vocals
Chris Norton: Keyboards
Kurt Morgan: Bass
Ryan Brown: Drums

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and are priced at $29.50 for Knoxville and here for Nashville and are priced $25.00 – $75.00.
