The Pink Spiders Will Rock Off Your Socks

…Quite literally.

Currently on a headlining tour to support their new full-length album Mutations, The Pink Spiders rolled through Los Angeles last night to throw a killer show at the Satellite. As one audience member put it, “it’s rare to see people get so stoked at a live show.” And stoked they were, indeed. Bouncing up and down from beginning to end, running crazy loops through the crowd, bumping into each other, pushing each other around with big smiles – the only thing missing was the crowd surfing. This audience was on fire!

And they had the pink-suited Spiders on stage to thank for that fire. Nashville-born and fueled by Jägermeister – lots of Jägermeister – these guys put on a hot performance. Jokes, a snarky punk-rock attitude, fast and loud guitar riffs, even louder drum beats, and catchy tunes had the crowd go wild. Many knew every single lyric, singing along as though they were shouting chants at an anarchist rally, pumping their first high in the air.

And although the majority of the show embodied the excitement of a disorderly riot – all in good fun, naturally – the Pink Spiders also knew how to reign it in. To ease off the cardio and keep hearts from exploding, they threw in a slow-paced song here and there. Slow cover songs, mind you, because “we don’t write ballads,” as proudly stated by lead singer Matt Friction.

There are only a few dates left to catch The Pink Spiders on their tour. I recommend you start digging through your closet now, get out your best rager outfit and prepare to enter the mosh pit of your lifetime.
