Progressive bluegrass jam band Railroad Earth made a stop in Knoxville Wednesday to perform at the Mill and Mine. They took the stage to cheers from an enthusiastic audience. A small but raucous group of Knoxville “hobos” were out in force to support their favorite band. It was evident from the start that this isn’t your typical bluegrass, mountain string band. They filled the air with a wide ranging sound from a multitude of instruments and an impressive light show tantamount to that of a big arena or stadium rock ‘n roll show. Front man Todd Schaefer led the band through two full sets of music and addressed the audience as if they were a group of old friends at a backyard picnic. If you missed the show on Wednesday, you can still catch this amazing group of musicians at The Caverns in Pelham, TN. on leap day.
