Outside Lands Announces 2016 Lineup

The long-awaited lineup for San Francisco’s 2016 Outside Lands is finally here, and boy is it a knock-out. A headliner like Radiohead alone will ensure a sell-out festival, no doubt. Their Los Angeles show recently sold out in a mere 15 minutes. But when have you ever had the chance to see The Muppet’s Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem? The Muppets, guys! The Muppets!

Nashville’s own, Moon Taxi, has also made the list this year. And then there’s Vulfpeck – LA’s half Jewish German American rhythm section. I was recently introduced to those cats and I can assure you, you can expect some pretty groovy, funky, sexy tunes from those gems. Also, make sure not to miss one of Australia’s finest: Hiatus Kaiyote. They’re guaranteed to brighten up your day with their lovely neo-soul brilliance, reminding of a more progressive Erykah Badu. But maybe most interesting is the brand new alt-pop electronic band LANY. And when I say brand new, I mean brand-spanking new. Just a year ago, this band was only an idea, but then social media magic happened. Within the past several months they’ve witnessed such incredible social growth that it has earned them a place on Sasquatch’s and Bonnaroo’s lineup and now Outside Lands as well. Their most recently published song “Where The Hell Are My Friends” has certainly become a rhetorical question at this point. I’m guessing they’re now getting swarmed by even the most distant of friends begging to hang out on a Friday night.

Those are just a few bands I wanted to highlight, but dig deeper yourself and take a look at this year’s incredible lineup. I’ll say without a doubt that it is by far one of the best, due to a brilliant mix of well established legends and extra interesting newbies on the block. And keep in mind that Outside Lands is not just a music festival, they’ll also feature comedy, Gastromagic (where music meets cooking demonstrations), incredible art installations, all the bay area food vendors you can dream of and, of course, Wine Lands and Beer Lands and (fingers crossed) Chocolands.

Outside Lands will once again take place at Golden Gate Park in early August (August 5-7, 2016). Three day passes as well as single day tickets will be available on the festival’s website starting tomorrow. If you’re feeling fancy, they’re also offering VIP passes.  Make sure to grab them fast! This festival will sell out before you can blink.
