Tennessee takes run-rule win against Tech

Tennessee welcomed Tech to a chilly evening at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, but the Lady Vols certainly weren’t slow to warm up.

Tennessee was quick to the scoreboard, earning four runs in the first inning and another four in the second. As if that wasn’t enough of a gap, the Lady Vols rallied for another five runs in the third inning and six in the fourth.

By the end of the night, Tennessee had scored 19 points, all the while holding Tech to zero runs.

Tennessee Tech only boasts a single win so far this year. And the Lady Vols certainly weren’t keen to hand Tech a second win.

These 12 back-to-back wins mark Tennessee’s longest win streak since this time two years ago.

Charli Orsini logs first career win

Freshman pitcher Charli Orsini showed up for the Vols defensively, allowing just one hit during her three innings on the mound.

Sophomore Lair Beautae celebrated her first game appearance of the season in grand fashion, logging two base hits and three RBIs during the night.

Freshman Camryn Sarvis contributed four RBIs during her two successful plate appearances.

Such a high-scoring game is far from unusual for Tennessee, a team that’s already logged three games with 19 or more points this season. Moreover, high-scoring innings have also been a common theme for the Vols.

Now 17-1 for the season, the team’s only loss came against Cal State Fullerton during February’s Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
