Gezellig Records is pleased to announce that recording artist William Wright, a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Knoxville Tennessee, will be performing at the 2019 Big Ears Festival, taking place March 21-24. Wright will be joining other festival artists in a drone performance called All Night Flight: Dreams Of The Whirlwind.
Wright, a mainstay in the East Tennessee music landscape and emergent contemporary composer, last appeared at Big Ears in 2010 as a member of Council, an experimental trio based in Atlanta. As a Knoxvillian, Wright is very excited to play the festival that put Knoxville on the avant-garde map. Another Knoxville native, Sean Bowie (better known as Yves Tumor), is also on the festival line-up.
Wright’s current release, Salt Mass: A Hookland Suite, was released in June by Gezellig Records to international praise. It has been streamed and purchased in 28 countries.
Wright is also currently the 2018-19 Composer In Residence at Theatre Knoxville Downtown. He also is a contributing sports editor for this paper.
The event will take place from 12am to 12pm on Sunday March 24. Venue for All Night Flight is TBA.
More Big Ears 2019 appearances for Wright will be announced as they are confirmed.
