If you’re looking for an easy two-day city festival in one of the most unique back drops of any festival, look no further than Birmingham, Alabama’s inaugural Sloss Fest.

The Sloss name is taken from the historic Sloss furnace factory and is located on the hallowed grounds, which is now a National Historic Landmark.
The Sloss Music and Arts Festival looks to be uniquely southern, highlighting craft brews, bar-b-q and specialty cocktail scene from within the region. But amongst the many highlights this initial festival offers, the lineup is certainly not to be forgotten.
AC Entertainment and Red Mountain Entertainment hit a homerun with a diverse lineup that rivals (and resembles) their Forecastle Festival held the same weekend in Louisville, KY. Needless to say, it will be a busy weekend for the folks at AC.
Sloss Festival’s rookie lineup will include over 30 bands from all genres of music across 3 stages, including headliners Modest Mouse (who are only doing select festivals this year), The Avett Brothers, Band of Horses and Primus. As if the headliners weren’t diverse enough, many others will be performing across 3 stages on July 18-19th including Cage the Elephant, Purity Ring, Tyler the Creator, The New Pornographers, Sturgill Simpson, Young the Giant and St. Paul and The Broken Bones.
Rounding out the two-day fest are such acts as Milo Greene, Blank Range, Big Gigantic, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Manchester Orchestra, First Aid Kit and Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, among others. If there were any doubts on the location of the festival, keep in mind The Shed at Sloss has a long history of concerts, which include The White Stripes, Alabama Shakes and Pretty Lights to name a few. Other activities include on site iron casting and pouring along with an assortment of regional artists highlighted by prominent hand screen poster-makers.
