Sometimes two stars collide and a great band like Brooklyn’s Great Good Fine Ok is born. Singer/songwriter Jon Sandler and multi-instrumentalist/producer Luke Moellman literally bumped into each other on the street late last year, decided to put their creative minds together and wrote their first song “You’re The One For Me” in just one night. The song was a hit, their first show ever sold out, people lined up for them around the block at SXSW this year, and within just eight months, they landed a major record deal. Lucky? More like crazy insane talent, honest, from-the-heart songwriting and a healthy hint of wackiness to make them particularly interesting. No wonder their show was sold out at the High Watt on April 2.

Lush falsettos mixed with sexy key-tar solos, light-up drum sticks and bass-lines you could feel in your eyelashes made you feel like you were at a 90’s rave. Or maybe it was Sandler’s (potentially acid-trip inspired?) flamboyant outfit: a knee-long sparkly jacket, something that looked like a space suit and silver kicks. Or maybe it was his Michael Jackson/Prince-like dance moves… Regardless, Great Good Fine OK definitely have the energy, weirdness and surprise element it takes to make for an interesting night regardless of your mood when walking in the door. They are simply intoxicating. You’re guaranteed to leave giddy and giggly and ready to dance.
