With April comes the return of Glowing Body Yoga & Healing Arts annual Karma Month! This special promotion allows community members to pick their price for nearly 50 classes a week. Karma classes – or donation classes – have been on the schedule since Glowing Body opened in 2008. This month, Glowing Body continues this tradition to promote participation in their classes, which they believe creates a lasting impact in the Knoxville community for the rest of the year.
“We are aware there can be barriers to taking high quality yoga classes in a studio environment, and cost can be one of them” states Kim Lomonaco, studio co-owner, long time teacher, and massage therapist. “As a studio, finding ways to bridge the gap between the skill our teachers possess, and the people that can benefit from them, is a top priority. Pay-what-you-can is our answer. Anyone can sample classes and find the one that fits, without investing a lot of money into the search.”
Glowing Body boasts many styles of yoga, from total beginner’s series, to Power Yoga classes, to mindfulness meditation. The studio is also home to nine licensed massage therapists offering an array of specialties. From university students, to working professionals, to retirees, Karma Month is designed to offer something for everyone. Students decide what they can afford, how often they want to take a class, and who they take it from.
As a bonus, since last year’s Karma Month, a plant-based, grab and go cafe, Cook To Be Well, has opened in the Glowing Body lobby. Yoga class can now be followed by a vibrant, delicious, and healthy meal.
