KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Families in Knoxville gathered for Wellpoint Tennessee’s “Back to School Bash,” in partnership with the Emerald Youth Foundation, a community event that provides students with backpacks and other school supplies for a successful school year.
During yesterday’s event, Wellpoint Tennessee and its partners provided more than 300 backpacks and school supplies, helping to ease financial stress for local families. Local businesses and community-based organizations also donated clothing and shoes to benefit Knoxville School District’s “Teacher’s Closet.” In addition to school supplies, Wellpoint Tennessee representatives, local community-based organizations, churches, and mental health providers were on site to offer health screenings, mental health support, entertainment, and food for attendees.
“New school supplies and resources can make a real difference for children heading back to school,” said Natalie Cooper, President of Wellpoint Tennessee. “Events like the ‘Back to School Bash’ are about standing alongside families in Knoxville providing them with what they need and showing them that we are here to support their overall well-being.”
