BurWil Construction recently announced three new hires and the expansion of their Knoxville location. Kevin Varney has joined the Bristol office as a Project Manager/Estimator. Whitney Manahan has joined the Knoxville office as the lead Architect for BurWil Design Group and Jaron Dowalter has joined the Knoxville office as a Project Manager/Estimator.

“I am very excited about our Knoxville office expansion with the addition of Whitney Manahan and Jaron Dowalter. Both bring high-level experience and expertise to our management staff,” shared Bill Prince, President & CEO of BurWil. “I am equally excited about the addition of Kevin Varney to our Bristol project management staff. Kevin interned with us a number of years ago, and we worked hand-in-hand with him when he was with ETSU.”
Kevin Varney is a graduate of East Tennessee State University (B.S. Construction Engineering ‘09 & M.S. Engineering Technology ‘11). A former professor in the university’s College of Business and Technology, Kevin also taught architectural history courses in Italy. Throughout his career in the construction industry, Kevin’s experience has covered education, retail, historical, athletic, and residential projects.

Whitney Manahan is a UT Alumna (B.S. Interior Design ’09 & M. Arch ’15) and former professor in the College of Architecture and Design with a background in historic preservation and adaptive reuse. Whitney has focused on multi-family, mixed-used and hospitality related projects throughout the downtown area and Knoxville’s historic neighborhoods. Whitney leads BurWil Design Group, which was established in 1998 to provide in house design/build services.
Jaron Dowalter is a construction professional with over 15 years of leadership and construction management experience. Jaron has recently relocated from Boise, Idaho and has joined the Knoxville division of BurWil Construction Co. as a project manager. His career trajectory has laid a strong foundation in the design/build construction methodology with an extensive background in Commercial, Retail, Multifamily & Industrial projects.

The Knoxville office was established in 2016 with Tony Pettit as Director of Knoxville Operations. Tony has overseen the design and construction of local projects such as the Historic Preservation of the CCC Cabins near Big South Fork, the Morristown Community Center which is currently under construction, and the England Furniture Headquarters which is in process of finalizing LEED certification.
