Kurt Cobain‘s Hagstrom Blue Sparkle Deluxe guitar from his personal collection went on sale February 16 in a charity auction on eBay.
The instrument was a 1992 Christmas gift to himself. After Kurt’s passing, Courtney Love gave the guitar to a friend who played in “an unspecified Seattle grunge band.” Eventually it landed in the hands of Nathan Fasold, a Portland-based collector of music memorabilia.
Now the prized and some would argue priceless instrument can be yours via a charity auction on eBay. It runs through February 26, in somewhat of an homage to what would have been Cobain’s 50th birthday on February 20.

Fasold has collaborated with eBay for Charity for the listing, with 10% of proceeds from the final sale of the guitar going to Transition Projects, Inc., which is a Portland-based nonprofit that helps more than 10,000 people every year transition from homelessness to housing.
