Tim Lee 3 Goes Out With A Bang – New Album, 10 Year Anniversary, & a Farewell Show at The Pilot Light

tinmanAfter 5 albums and a decade of memories, the Tim Lee 3 trio has finally decided to hang up the gloves and go out with a bang.

The band, made up of husband-wife duo Tim Lee and Susan Bauer Lee along with drummer Chris Bratta, will be celebrating their 10th anniversary tonight at the Pilot Light with a new release and a huge farewell party at 7PM.

The trio’s release party will serve as the conclusion to a four-part music showcase series at The Pilot Light presented by 90.3 the Rock called Rock & Roll Happy Hour.

“Tin, Man,” Tim Lee 3’s fifth studio album, is chock full of all the jangly, guitar-driven rock & roll we’ve come to know and love so well from the trio. Some of the album highlights include the opening track “Superstition,” complete with piano and tambourine, the downtempo “Hanging By a Thread,” “See the Light,” fronted by Susan, and the album closer, “Expensive Proposition”.

The album features countless local musicians, an aspect that has always been important to the band. They called on a range of musicians including Greg Horne, Kevin Abernathy, Po Hannah and more to contribute an eclectic mix of instrumentation such as organ, accordion, slide guitar, and lap steel.

While the Tim Lee 3 gang has been throwing around the “H” word – Hiatus – recently, things are far from over for the three members.

In a website post earlier this month, Tim announced to fans, “We’re not ‘breaking up’ the band. We’re not putting the band out to pasture. We’re good Southerners so we’re just putting it up on cinder blocks in the front yard until it’s time to put on some new tires and take it for another spin.”

The trio may be putting a pin in Tim Lee 3, but this certainly isn’t the end for the husband-wife duo – Tim and Susan have plans to keep their passion for music alive and well through their new project, Bark. While a chronic injury inhibits Susan’s ability to play bass in a live setting for any extended period of time, Bark witnesses a shift in roles from the couple, featuring Susan on drums and Tim on bass. In fact, plans for a full-length release have already been set in motion.

In the meantime, Tim Lee 3’s album release and farewell show will kick off at 7pm tonight at the Pilot Light – come out, support local music, and help give Tim Lee 3 the sendoff they deserve.
