Lightning 100 Festivus (featuring Anderson East, Houndmouth and Colony House) Review – 2015/12/12 Marathon Music Works

Last night, Lightning 100 hosted its annual Festivus fund raiser at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, TN to benefit the Salvation Army. The lineup included Colony House, Houndmouth and Anderson East.

The capacity crowd came dressed in their favorite holiday costumery and loaded on “cheer” or copious amounts of alcohol. Smiling faces gathered to sing their favorite songs of 2015, eyes shut and heads thrown back. On the stage right wall, there was an open stream of “airing of grievances” from Lightning 100’s Twitter feed. There was a photo booth with tons of supplies to decorate and accentuate the already happening vibe.

Colony House hit the stage just after 8pm and thoroughly worked the crowd into a frenzy.  Their album When I was Younger has pushed them into main stream attention on the glory of ” Waiting for My Time to Come.” Especially in the last two songs; they left everything on the stage.

Anderson East took the stage and the crowd ignited. This has been a HUGE year for East. His single “Satisfy Me” received massive airplay and helped catapult his career. This brought his long year on the road to and end, but only briefly. His next tour begins January 15th. The Twitter wall was full of heart emojis and “swooned’ throughout his show. East performed a spectacular set dotted with classic motown/stacks flavored songs. Covers included Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey,” Faces’ “Stay with Me” and “Knock on Wood” by Eddie Floyd.

Houndmouth closed out the night with raw energy. In the few months since Bonnaroo, they have grown extensively. The crowd seemed to grow as they kept rolling out favorite after favorite from their catalogue. They were playful which only served to elevate the already joyful atmosphere. Don’t miss a chance to catch these guys. Favorites included” Sedona” and “Say It Like You Mean It.”
