The Knoxville Gay Men’s Chorus is pleased to announce that they will be presenting their celebration of the holidays with the “Christmas Comes Anew” concert. The KGMC has planned a music fest featuring both traditional carols and secular holiday themes. The concert will be held at the Bijou Theater on December 12th and 13th at 8 pm and 2 pm respectively. The cost for the concert is $18 for adult and $15 for students and seniors.

The Knoxville Gay Men’s Chorus was established in 2012 and has grown from fifteen members to more than fifty in the last three years. Several new members have been welcomed this season. Each member of the group spends time in weekly rehearsals, as well as dedicating personal time to learning and memorizing a full evening of music to share.

The group is organized as a local 501)(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Christmas concert this year will be the first performance under the direction of the new artistic director, Dr. Alan Stevens. The chorus will also feature two smaller ensembles, “Choral Fixation” and “Minor Adjustment”.

Highlights for the performance include arrangements of “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, “The First Noel” and “Still, Still, Still”. The second act includes “Mele Kalikimaka”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Jingle Bells”. Within the scope of the concert are traditional Christmas Carols, celebrations of warmth and winter and light-hearted numbers to warm the hearts and spirit of the audience.

Tickets can be purchased through the KGMC website at https://www.knoxgmc.org or through the Bijou Theater website at https://www.knoxbijou.com/.
