OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ADDICTION CAMPUSES OFFICE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS ON TN TOGETHER
Today is a proud day for Tennesseans and we applaud Gov. Bill Haslam, Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, House Speaker Beth Harwell, Chief Justice Jeff Bivins and all members of the Tennessee General Assembly who were present today for the launch of Tennessee Together.
Those battling substance use disorder in our home state are desperate for funding options as state operated treatment facilities have been stretched thin, and those needing help the most are sometimes placed on long waiting lists and fall short of the necessary insurance benefits and financial obligations needed. The people of Tennessee deserve options, and no one should have to die because those options aren’t available.
Prevention and treatment are key to our great state ending this current crisis. The $25 million in funding is a positive step in the right direction, and we look forward to those suffering from a completely preventable and treatable disease having more opportunities to receive help. Addiction is not a moral failing, and those suffering from it need to be in treatment beds, not jail cells.
Thank you for reaching out to help Tennesseans and working together to prevent them from having to say goodbye to another person they love because funding and resources were not available.
