Month two finds us on Thanksgiving day. There are so many things to be thankful for today, even if family is far from you or non existent all together. So far today has been spent running errands/fixing things, in the gym doing an hour of circuit training, a half an hour of spine lengthening yoga and now, enjoying #Gobbleroo streaming Bonnaroo 2015‘s highlights. Speaking of things I am thankful for…Bonnaroo is the most magical time of the year to me. Nothing comes close. 80,000 of your newest best friends from all over the planet dancing in the Summer heat of Tennessee. It’s one of the last places where magic still truly exist. (Presale starts 11/27/15)
Before I get too side tracked with reliving and anticipating festival season, lets talk about this month’s challenge. Remember, this challenge is to pick ONE thing and do it for 30 days. Don’t try to change everything. It’s the next right step. After that step, everything else will naturally fall in line.
Insanity is a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout that will utterly transform ever part of your life in just 60 days. Shaun T invented this when he heard that there was a company looking for the hardest workout ever. He assembled some friends and worked out what would become one of the routines in Insanity. When the Carl Daikeler, the CEO of Beachbody, saw this, he knew it was just what he were looking for. What resulted was the hardest and most rewarding exercise program I have ever both tried and completed. Recently, Shaun T released Insanity Max: 30. This is a revolution. In just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, you can transform your body into a condition that takes the average person a year to achieve.Check out his bio and the Men’s Health article from February of 2015.
“In INSANITY MAX:30 we don’t lift weights—we lift ourselves! 30 minutes. Modifier. No equipment. With dedicated cardio and Tabata strength workouts + 150 new moves, the focus is not on making it through all 30 minutes—it’s about finding your MAX by pushing yourself just a little bit further than yesterday.” – Shaun T

This is the truth! You only need a positive attitude and the desire to be better. And if variety is the spice you are looking for, Beachbody.com now has every workout they offer, from all of their projects, Cize (a high energy dance workout), P90X, 21 Day Fix ( a 21 day reset and fitness program), Body Beast (time to get those GAINS), Piyo (think pilates meats yoga at twice the speed) and Brazil Butt Lift to name a few, streaming 24/7 for less than most gym memberships monthly cost.
Why did I choose Insanity?
Years ago, I woke up one day in pain, disgustingly fat and fed up with both. I was constantly drunk, which besides destroying my liver and packing on pounds, usually led to poor choices in food. Drunk doesn’t care about calories and fat content. Drunk cares about drinking. I realized I was out of control and spiraling. The time was perfect to do something radical. In my girlfriend’s (at the time) apartment, I stated this 60 day journey. It is HARD! But, the great thing is, you don’t compare yourself to anyone else and everything is explained to you in easy to follow steps. I finished 60 days and started it over. Years later, after a break up, I returned to this program to get myself back into shape. I went from 235 to 180 and only 5.5 % body fat in 4 months. The hard work made me want to eat better. The results made me stick with it. It was a perfect storm of awesome. I have since, by choice, put on weight using both this program and its even more challenging counter parts – Insanity: The Asylum. This is Insanity intensity combined with a ladder workout for athlete training. I love it, but always come back to Insanity. It is my rock for workouts.
